We are entering the month of October, designated as Respect Life Month, after hearing Jesus' clear message in the Gospel of Mark, "Whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me....Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were put around his neck and he were thrown into the sea.....Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these...."
As we strive to create a safe faith environment for our children, take time to consider how we live our calling to respect the life and dignity of the human person in "who and how we are" with children. Do our words, our actions, our policies and our practices consistently celebrate their lives and uphold their dignity?
